Today Bradley traded screens for strawberries and spent the day helping Grandma make homemade strawberry jam. From washing berries to stirring the pot and filling jars, he was proud to be part of every step.
There’s something special about learning old-fashioned skills from the people who love us most. The kitchen was filled with laughter, stories, and the sweet smell of strawberries bubbling away on the stove.
These are the moments we hope our children remember—not just the jam, but the time spent together, the lessons learned, and the love poured into every jar.

📚 Darrell Kirby did attend school here and was mayor, but he never got paddled
📚 Ruth Perry attended school here and even lived here, but was never mayor
The REAL answer was actually David Sims!
We learned this fun bit of history back in 2019 while being interviewed on the radio with Jojo. David attended school here in 3rd and 4th grade and apparently got just a little mischievous with some bats. 🦇😂
Even though nobody guessed correctly, we’ve decided we’d still love to give away a one-night stay here at Northside School Bed & Breakfast, so stay tuned while we come up with something fun! ✨

Back in 1912, the story began for our little school house. In 1914, in the quiet countryside of Bonners Ferry, Northside School first opened its doors to local children. Built to serve farming families scattered across the valley, this little schoolhouse quickly became more than just a place of learning—it was the heart of the community.
Students of all ages gathered in the four room schoolhouse, sharing desks, stories, and long winter days warmed by a massive boiler. Teachers didn’t just educate—they mentored, encouraged, and often knew every family personally. School events, programs, and gatherings brought neighbors together in a way that feels rare today.
Though the chalkboards are quieter now, the spirit of those early days still lingers in every corner of the building. The laughter, the learning, the sense of belonging—it’s all part of what makes this place so special.
